Prahran is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Prahran, on the Sandringham railway line. Prahran is classed as a Host Station and is in Metcard Zone 1.

Facilities

Prahran is located at the southern end of the Greville Street level crossing, which provides station access.

The station consists of two side platforms; The office building is on platform 1. The station is manned from 6:00am to 10:00pm until June when it is expected to become fully "premium" and will be manned first to last train. A large Metcard ticket vending machine is located at the entrance to platform 1, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes,coins and Eftpos. A Myki machine as also available. A small coin-only Metcard ticket vending machine is located at the entrance to platform 2.

Chapel Street, Prahan market and Swinburne TAFE, just a few minutes walk from the station.

History

Prahran station opened on 22 December 1860 as Greville Street. It was renamed Prahran in 1867.[1]
